Stainless Metals & Alloys Ltd and UKF Stainless Ltd are delighted to have been selected as significant material suppliers on the construction of Portstewart Promenade’s coastal hand-railing.
The two companies contributed over 30 tons of Grade 316/L Stainless Steel plate and 3000 metres of mirror polished seamless pipe to the project.
For such a project, the material had to be capable of withstanding the chloride-rich atmosphere, while being long-lasting, easy-to-maintain and affordable. The companies selected Grade 316/L plate for its excellent corrosion resistance and the mirror polish tube for its added protection and aesthetics.
Located along Northern Ireland’s famous and incredibly beautiful Causeway Coast, Portstewart is a popular location for tourists and visitors and has recently seen an increase in footfall due to the region being a popular Game of Thrones filming location.
This rise in tourism is expected to continue, with neighbouring resort town Portrush being the venue for the 2019 British Open Golf Tournament.
